Ohaaki Marae
Ngati Tahu-Ngati Whoa Ohaaki Marae (between Rotorua and Taupō) is situated on land where geothermal fluids had settled made it susceptible to flooding. The challenge was to provide a plan to move the marae to a new site, keeping the integrity of its structure, history and cultural sensitivities. It was to include an interpretive walk that relates the story of iwi and hapu and their relationship with the Waikato River.
