Poplar’s House

This is a passive solar house, North facing with the roof eaves sized to shade the walls in the Summer and allow the sun in during Winter. The principal is to use the sun’s free energy to warm the house during Winter, and the eave over hang to keep the sun out during Summer. The sun shines on the fully insulated concrete floor almost right to the back of the house in the Winter. The house is super insulated and made with maintenance free materials. The clients also are interested in permaculture with roof water collected for the garden. The garage roof is angled for a future solar array to make the house net zero energy.
